On Judas

Matthew 27:3 Then Judas the-(one) giving him over, having-seen that he-was-condemned, having-regretted, he-turned-back the thirty silver-coins to-the chief-priests and to-the elders,

Matthew 26:67 Then they-spat-on into his face, and they-buffeted him, but the-(ones) slapped,

Who slapped Jesus? Peter or Judas? Or was it you or me?

Peter denied Jesus 3x “absolutely”.

Peter wept.

Judas gave over Jesus’ location.

Judas killed himself.

Jesus died for all.

Matthew 26:68 Saying, You-prophesy to-us, Messiah, Who is the-(one) having-struck you?

v69 But the Peter was-sitting without in the court, and one maid-servant came-near to-him, saying, And you yourself-were with Jesus the Galilean.

v70 But the-(one) denied in-front of-all, saying, I-am-absolutely not knowing what you-are-saying.

v71 But he having-gone-out into the gateway, another (maid-servant) saw him and she-is-saying to-the-(ones) there, And this-(one) was with Jesus the Nazarene.

v72 And again he-denied with (an) oath, That I-am-absolutely not knowing the MAN.

v73 But after (a) little the-(ones) having-stood-and-still-standing having-come-near said to-the Peter, Truly you yourself-are also out-of them, for even your speech is-making you evident.

v74 Then he-began to-be-anathematizing-against and to-be-swearing, That I-am-absolutely not knowing the MAN.  And immediately (a) cock crowed.

v75 And the Peter was-made-mindful of-the saying of-the Jesus of-having-said to-him, That before (a) cock to-crow, thrice you-will-disown me.  And having-gone-out without he-wept bitterly.

c27

v1 But (as) early-morning (was) having-come-to-pass, all the chief-priests and the elders of-the people took counsel-together down-upon the Jesus so-as to-put him to-death;

v2 And having-bound him they-led (him) away and they-gave him over to-Pontius Pilate the governor.

v3 Then Judas the-(one) giving him over, having-seen that he-was-condemned, having-regretted, he-turned-back the thirty silver-coins to-the chief-priests and to-the elders,

v4 Saying, I-sinned having-given-over innocent blood.  But the-(ones) said, What (is-it) to us? You yourself-will-see.

v5 And having-thrown the silver-coins in the sanctuary he-retired, and having-gone-away he-hanged-himself.

v6 But the chief-priests having-taken the silver-coins said, It-is not legitimate to-cast them into the temple-treasury, since it-is (a) price of-blood.

v7 But having-taken counsel-together, they-bought-in-the-market out-of them the field of-the potter, with-reference-to burial for-the strangers.

v8 On-this-account that field was-called, Field of-blood till the today.

v9 Then was fulfilled the-(thing) having-been-said through Jeremiah the prophet, saying, And I-took the thirty silver-coins, the price of-the-(one) having-been-and-still-priced, whom they from sons of-Israel priced-for-themselves.

v10 And they-gave them with-reference-to the field of-the potter just-as Jehovah assigned-together to-me.

27:3        giving over - παραδιδοὺς, Cf. Acts 3:13. having-regretted - μεταμεληθεὶς,  Cf. Mt.21:29. Judas repents, returns coins, v4 confesses sin to chief priest & elders, all he could do under Mosaic law; still pre-cross,       He.9:16-28.

27:4        having-given-over - παραδοὺς

27:7        the priests bought the field of the potter - τὸν Ἀγρὸν τοῦ Κεραμέως, and v8 it was then called a field of blood- Ἀγρὸς Αἵματος Agros Haimatos. Cf. Acts 1:19 a piece of land of blood -  Ἁκελδαμά Hakeldama, where Judas died.

---------------

Not yet the death of the testator of the new testament –Jesus- so the New Covenant was not yet fully operational.

Hebrews 9:13 For if the blood of-he-goats and of-bulls and ashes of-a-heifer sprinkling the (ones) having-been-and-still-defiled is-making-holy to the cleanness of-the flesh,

v14 By-how-much more will the blood of-the Messiah, who through (the) eternal Spirit offered Himself unblemished to-the God, cleanse your conscience from dead works with-reference-to-be-serving (the) living God?

v15 And because-of this he-is mediator of-a-new-quality covenant, in-which-case a-death (is) having-come-to-pass with-reference-to redemption-back of-the transgressions on the first covenant, the (ones) having-been-and-still-being-called might take the promise of-the eternal inheritance.

v16 For where-in-which (there-is-a) covenant, (it-is) (a) necessity (a) death to-be-being-brought from-the (one) having-himself-covenanted;

Judas did all that he could under the Mosaic Law/Covenant to remedy his sin.  He returned the money to the high priest and confessed that he had given over innocent blood.

By this statement, Judas proclaims that Jesus is God.

The criminal (g2557 κακοῦργος kakourgos) on the cross also proclaimed Jesus’ purity (deity) and Jesus said (while on the cross, but before he died on Cross) that he would be in paradise with Jesus that same day.

Luke 23:39 But one of-the criminals having-been-hanged was-blaspheming him, saying:  If you yourself-are the Messiah, you-save yourself and us.

v40 But the different (one) having-answered was-rebuking him, saying:  But (are) you yourself not fearing-for-yourself the God, because you-are in the same sentence?

v41 And we on-the-one-hand justly; for we-are-taking-back worthy-(things) of-what-(things) we-practised; on-the-other-hand this (one) practised not-one-thing out-of-place.

v42 And he-was-saying to-the Jesus: You-be-made-mindful of-me Lord, at-the-time-that you-might-come in to-your kingdom.

v43 And the Jesus said to-him: Amen I-am saying to-you, today you-will-be with me in the paradise.

[An aside on Pesach Sheni for the MessyAntic group: Note that both Jesus and the criminal were in paradise later that day.  That Jesus was in paradise later that day is beneficial to understanding that scripture does not record Jesus observing Passover Sheni 30 days later.  [Jesus and his disciples observed the Passover meal a day before the “official” date. There would not have been a sacrificed lamb at that meal. IF Jesus needed to fulfill the law by eating a sacrificed lamb at this seder, he would have observed Passover Sheni, which was set by God as an alternate date if a person was away and unable to observe the normal date.  As scripture makes no mention of this, it is apparent that Jesus did not need to observe Passover Sheni.  And on another MessyAntic track,of course Yeshua, the Creator of the moon and its ordinances, absolutely knew and could see when conjunction occurred.

Said again:  Jesus on the cross on Passover, took on OUR sin.  We, being dead to sin defiled him, because he "touched us lepers", so - by law - he could not "observe" Passover.  BUT according to Mosaic law he would have been able to 30 days later, at Pesach Sheni (Num. 9:6-14). Jesus could have partook of this second Passover as he was resurrected and seen for some 40 days, yet he did not, because he had no need as his standing-again/resurrection by the Father evidenced that Jesus had already fulfilled/completed/ended the law, the veil was rent, there was no more sacrifice.  Of course, as Jesus was sinless, the wonderful reason that he first died was that he first loved us out of OUR need.

1John 4:19 We ourselves-are-cherishing, because he himself first cherished us.

v20 If someone might-say, that I-am-cherishing the God, and he-might-be-hating his brother, he-is (a) liar; for the (one) not cherishing his brother whom he-has-seen-and-still-sees, he-is not being-able to-be-cherishing the God whom he-has not seen-and-still-does not see.

Numbers 9:6 And there were certain men, who were unclean by reason of the dead body of a man, so that they could not keep the passover on that day: and they came before Moses and before Aaron on that day: 7 and those men said unto him, We are unclean by reason of the dead body of a man: wherefore are we kept back, that we may not offer the oblation of Jehovah in its appointed season among the children of Israel? 8 And Moses said unto them, Stay ye, that I may hear what Jehovah will command concerning you.

9 And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying, 10 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If any man of you or of your generations shall be unclean by reason of a dead body, or be on a journey afar off, yet he shall keep the passover unto Jehovah. 11 In the second month on the fourteenth day at even they shall keep it; they shall eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs: 12 they shall leave none of it unto the morning, nor break a bone thereof: according to all the statute of the passover they shall keep it. 13 But the man that is clean, and is not on a journey, and forbeareth to keep the passover, that soul shall be cut off from his people; because he offered not the oblation of Jehovah in its appointed season, that man shall bear his sin.

end aside]

Right after Jesus told the 12 disciples that they would judge the 12 tribes,  Jesus told Peter that Satan desired to “sift” Peter, but that Jesus had interceded for Peter.

Luke 22:30 In-order-that YOU-might-be-eating and YOU-might-be-drinking on my table in my kingdom, and YOU-might-yourselves-be-seated on thrones judging the twelve tribes of-the Israeli.

v31 But the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, the adversary demanded YOU, to-sift as the wheat;

v32 But I myself-petitioned concerning you, in-order-that your trust might not be-disappearing; and at-what-time having-turned-around you yourself-fix-firmly your brothers.

v33 But the-(one) said to-him, Lord, I-am prepared to-be-proceeding with you even into (a) guard-house and into death.

v34 But the-(one) said, I-am-saying to-you, Peter, by-no-means will (a) cock crow today than before you-will thrice disown (me), absolutely not to-have-known me.

In order that scripture/prophecy be fulfilled, Jesus did not intercede for Judas in this case. Instead, Jesus commanded Judas to do what he had to do what he had to do quickly. Thus Judas obeyed Jesus.

John 17:12 When I-was with them in the world I myself-was-keeping them in your name:  Whom you-have-given-and-still-give to-me I-guarded, and not-one out-of them perished, unless the son of-the destruction, in-order-that the scripture might-be-fulfilled,

v13 But now I-am-coming to you; and I-am-speaking these-(things) in the world in-order-that they-might-be-having the joy, namely-the mine, having-been-and-still-fulfilled in them.

and not-one(οὐδεὶς ) out-of them perished, unless (εἰ μὴ) the son of-the destruction

καὶ οὐδεὶς ἐξ αὐτῶν ἀπώλετο εἰ μὴ ὁ υἱὸς τῆς ἀπωλείας

Thayer’s Lexicon on εἰ: “εἰ is a conditional particle”

And for μὴ: “a primary particle of qualified negation”. The KJV translates μὴ -- not 486, no 44, that not 21, God forbid + 1096 15, lest 14, neither 7, no man + 5100 6, but 3, none 3, not tr 51, misc 23

“unless” is fine understood as “if not” .

Considering “the son of the destruction”, let’s compare scriptures:

Jesus CHOSE Judas:

John 6:70 The Jesus answered to-them, Chose I not for-myself YOU the twelve, and out-of YOU one is (a) slanderer (g1228 διάβολος diabolos KJV-devil)?

v71 But he-was-saying (of) the Judas Iscariot of-Simon, for this (one) was-being-about to-be-giving him over, being one out-of the twelve.

Matthew 16:23 But the-(one) having-been-turned said to-the Peter, You-be-withdrawing behind me, adversary (g4567 Σατανᾶς satanas KJV-Satan), you-are (an) entrapment to-me, because you-are not having-an-opinion-of the-(things) of-the God, BUT the-(things) of-the MEN.

IF Peter is obviously not Satan, why would Judas be considered a devil?  Many Christians seem to have a delusional concept wherein Judas needs to die because he takes their sin with him…Judas is their scapegoat. They would benefit from a study on Yom Kippur in Yeshua…

What then?

Luke 18:26 But the-(ones) having-heard said, Who is even being-able to-be-saved?

v27 But the-(one) said, The-(things) impossible beside MEN (are) possible beside the God.

i.e., thus we rely ONLY on THE GRACE/FAVOR OF GOD

As with Judas..

Jesus cleansed Judas:

John 13:10 The Jesus is-saying to-him, The (one) having-been-bathed is not having need than to-wash-for-himself the feet, BUT he-is total clean; and YOU yourselves-are clean (ones), BUT NOT all.

v11 For he-had-known-absolutely the (one) giving him over: because-of this he-said, YOU-are NOT all clean (ones),

v12 When therefore he-washed the feet of-them, and he-took (his) garments, having-fallen-back again, he-said to-them, Are-YOU-coming-to-know what I-have-done-and-am-doing to-You?

So Jesus says if your feet are washed you are total clean.  Then he says you are not all clean, referring to Judas. Then he washed Judas’ feet, making him total clean.

Matthew 26:23 But the-(one) having-answered said, The-(one) having-dipped-in the hand with me in the bowl, this-(one) will-give (παραδώσει) me over.
 v24 On-the-one-hand the son of-the MAN
(g444 ἄνθρωπος anthrōpos) is withdrawing according-as it-has-been-and-is-still-written concerning him, on-the-other-hand to-that MAN (g444 ἄνθρωπος anthrōpos) through whom the son of-the MAN (g444 ἄνθρωπος anthrōpos) is-being-given-over; it-was fine for-him if that man (g444 ἄνθρωπος anthrōpos) was not born.  [don't add doctrine to this]
 v25 But having-answered Judas the-(one) giving-him over said, Whether-at-all I myself-am (he) Rabbi? He-is-saying to-him, You yourself-said.
v26 But (as) they (were) eating, the Jesus having-taken the bread, and having-blessed, he-broke-in-pieces and he-was-giving to-the disciples, and he-said, YOU-take, YOU-eat; this is my body.
v27 And having-taken the cup, and having-given-thanks, he-gave to-them, saying, YOU all drink out-of it
 v28 For this is my blood, namely-the (blood) of-the new-quality covenant, namely-the (blood) being-poured-out concerning many with-reference-to forgiveness of-sins.

Judas ate this bread and drank this wine with Jesus at this Passover. So then spiritually, the blood of Christ did indeed provide “redemption-back” for Judas also:

Hebrews 9:Hebrew 9:11 But Messiah having-come-to-be-alongside chief-priest of-the future good-things, through the greater and more-perfect tabernacle not made-by-hand, this is not of-this creation,

v12 Nor through blood of-he-goats and of-calves, but through (his) own blood he-went-in all-at-once into the holy-places, having-found eternal redemption.

v13 For if the blood of-he-goats and of-bulls and ashes of-a-heifer sprinkling the (ones) having-been-and-still-defiled is-making-holy to the cleanness of-the flesh,

v14 By-how-much more will the blood of-the Messiah, who through (the) eternal Spirit offered Himself unblemished to-the God, cleanse your conscience from dead works with-reference-to-be-serving (the) living God?

v15 And because-of this he-is mediator of-a-new-quality covenant, in-which-case a-death (is) having-come-to-pass with-reference-to redemption-back of-the transgressions on the first covenant, the (ones) having-been-and-still-being-called might take the promise of-the eternal inheritance.

ἀπολυτρώσεως - apolutroseos - "redemption-back" - is a releasing or forgiving or redeeming action that goes to the beginning of that which caused the state to become:  it isn't redemption just for sins after the cross, or that you just did, but rather also redeems you and others -even those already dead - from earlier sins.   Thus "redemption-back" translates the correct meaning of the Greek word -ἀπολυτρώσεως - apolutroseos.  Redemption-back applies primarily to those "Old Testament" Jews, i.e. the redemption of Israel back to a restored kingdom (see Hebrews ch9).  Of course, Christ’s blood provides redemption-back to even the Garden of Eden, fulfilling the Messianic prophecies of Gen. 3:15 & 3:21:

Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Genesis 3:21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skin, and clothed them.

Something was sacrificed to make the coats (covering) of skin (skin is singular in the Hebrew).  The New Testament reveals this sacrifice was a lamb that was a type of Jesus Christ:

John 1:29 On-the next-day the John is-looking-at the Jesus coming toward him, and he-is-saying, Note the lamb-sacrifice of-the God, the (one) removing the sin of-the world.

John 1:35 On-the  next-day again  the John had-been-standing and two of-his disciples.

v36 And having-looked-upon the Jesus walking-around, he-is-saying, Note the lamb-sacrifice of-the God.

Revelation 5:6 And I-saw in midst of-the throne and of-the four living-creatures and in midst of-the elders (a) lamb having-stood-and-still-standing as having-been-and-still-slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of-the God having-been-and-still-dispatched into all the earth.

v7 And he-came and he-has-taken-and-still-has (the book, KJ) out-of the right (hand) of-the (one) sitting on the throne.

v8 And when he-took the little-book, the four living-creatures and the twenty four elders fell in-sight of-the lamb, each having (a) kithara and pans made-of-gold being-loaded of-incenses which are the prayers of-the holy (ones).

v9 And they-are-singing-an-ode (a) new (quality) song saying: You-are worthy to-take the little-book and to-open the seals of-it, because you-were-slain and you-bought-in-the-market to-the God in your blood out-of every tribe and language and people and nation,

v10 And you-made them to our God (a) kingdom and priests, and they-will-be-kings on the earth,

v11 And I-saw, and I-heard (a) voice of-many angels in-a-circle of-the throne and of-the living-creatures and of-the elders, and the number of-them was myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands,

v12 Saying with-(a)-great voice:  Worthy is the lamb namely-the (one) having-been-and-still-slain to-take the power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.

Of course, some friend of Jesus HAD to give him over…for His Glory:

John 13:26 The Jesus is-answering, It-is that-(one) to-whom I, having-dipped the little-morsel, shall-hand (it) over.  And having-dipped-in the-little-morsel he-is-giving (it) to Judas Iscariot of-Simon.

v27 And after the little-morsel, then the adversary went-in into that-(one).  The Jesus is-saying therefore to-him, What you-are-doing you-do more-quickly.

v28 But not-one of-the (ones) lying-back came-to-know toward what-(thing) he-said this to-him.

v29 For some were-thinking, since the Judas was-having the case, that the Jesus is-saying to-him, You-buy-in-the-market of-which (things) we-are-having need with-reference-to the feast; or in-order-that he-might-give something to-the destitute.

v30 Therefore having-taken the little-morsel that-(one) went-out immediately; but it-was night.

v31 When he-went-out the Jesus is-saying, Now the son of-the MAN was-glorified, and the God was-glorified in him.

v32 If the God was-glorified in him, and the God will-glorify him in himself, he-will also directly glorify him.

It’s worth considering that perhaps this “little morsel” was the Afikomen (dessert) of the Passover meal…perhaps a 3rd dipping just for Judas…in the Passover Haggadah, Korech and Tzafun step beside each other…

Matthew 26:48 But the-(one) giving him over gave (a) sign to-them, saying, Whom I-might-kiss, it-is he: YOU-retain him. The "Judas" kiss was a sign to whom?  On what level do we see?
v49 And immediately having-come-near to-the Jesus he-said, Hail, Rabbi, and he-kissed him tenderly.
v50 But the Jesus said to-him, Comrade, over what are-you-being-alongside? Then having-come-near they-cast-on the hands upon the Jesus, and they-retained him.

May Psalm 2:12 be a sign to you:

Psalm 2:12 Kiss the son, lest he be angry, and ye perish in the way, For his wrath will soon be kindled. Blessed are all they that take refuge in him.

Judas kissed the Son.

There’s more to think about concerning these Judas passages.  For here and now, Cf. “your father the devil”.

John 8:42 The Jesus said therefore to-them, If the God was YOUR Father, YOU-were (likely) cherishing me, for I myself-came-out out-of the God and I-am-present; for neither have-I-come-and-am-still-come from myself, BUT that (one) dispatched me.

v43 Because-of-what are-YOU not coming-to-know the speech namely-the mine? Because YOU-are not being-able to-be-hearing the word namely-the mine.

v44 YOU yourselves-are out-of the father namely-the slanderer (g1228 διάβολος diabolos), and the desires of-YOUR father YOU-are-willing to-be-doing.  That (one) was MAN-killer from (the) beginning, and he-has not stood-and-is-(not) standing in the truth, because truth is not in him. At-the-time-that he-might-be-speaking the lie, he-is-speaking out-of (his) own-(things); because he-is (a) liar and the father of-it.

v45 But because I myself-am-saying the truth, YOU-are not trusting in-me.

v46 Who out-of YOU is-reproving me concerning sin? But if I-am-speaking truth, because-of-what are-YOU yourselves not trusting in-me?

v47 The (one) being out-of the God is-hearing the sayings of-the God:  because-of this YOU yourselves-are not hearing, because YOU-are not out-of the God.

Genesis 4:1 And the man knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man with Jehovah.

4:25; And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth. For, [said she], God hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel; for Cain slew him.

All prophesied concerning Judas came to pass.

Judas is indeed the villain in the Passion Play:

Psalm 109:8 Let his days be few; And let another take his office.

9 Let his children be fatherless, And his wife a widow.

10 Let his children be vagabonds, and beg; And let them seek their bread out of their desolate places.

11 Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; And let strangers make spoil of his labor.

12 Let there be none to extend kindness unto him; Neither let there be any to have pity on his fatherless children.

13 Let his posterity be cut off; In the generation following let their name be blotted out.

Wow! It would have been better if he hadn’t been born, and also for his family!

Not just Judas…

Psalm 69:8 I am become a stranger unto my brethren, And an alien unto my mother's children.

Probably Judas:

Psalm 49:9 Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, Who did eat of my bread, Hath lifted up his heel against me.

None of that precludes what Jesus told Judas – YOU shall judge.

Matthew 19:27 Then the Peter having-answered said to-him, Behold, we ourselves-let-go all-(things) and we-followed with-you; so what will-it-be to-us?
v28 But the Jesus said to-them, Amen I-am-saying to-YOU, that YOU the-(ones) having-followed with-me, in the regeneration, at-the-time-that the son of-the MAN might-be-seated upon (the) throne of-his glory, YOU also yourselves will-be-seated upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of-the Israeli.

Acts1:17  "Because he-was having-been-and-still-is-numbered-down among us and he-procured-by-destiny the lot of this ministry."

Did Jesus lie? No.

Did Jesus make a mistake? No.

Shall Judas judge? Yes.

Jesus said it.

You better believe it.

----------------------------

The unpardonable sin – is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

Mark 3:28 Amen I-am-saying to-YOU, that all the sins of-the sons of-the MEN will-be-forgiven, even as-many blasphemies as they-might-blaspheme;

v29 But who might-blaspheme with-reference-to the Spirit namely-the Holy, is not having forgiveness with-reference-to the age, BUT is liable of eternal judgement;

v30 Because they-were-saying, He-is-having (an) unclean spirit.
