Notes on GALATIANS Chapter one

-this is a beginning of an ongoing study (Yah permitting) .

The Greek font may not duplicate with accents in all formats, so I will work on removing accent markings.

 

A Consistent Translation is a one-word-English for one-word-Greek translation using the consistently the same English word for the same Greek word.  I know of no other translations that are as consistent in this. This translation falls short of 100 percent consistency: however the few variances are noted.

Thus a consistent translation immediately removes most of the translator's commentary and bias.  It gets down to strict definitions that will apply to all the words of Yah throughout the New Testament, and not just one chapter or book - this in itself proves the Holy Spirit is the singular author of the New Testament.  For whom else could create a document with many penmen that agreed in such a manner? This consistency eliminates picking and choosing (commentary) of different meanings of the same word to fit doctrine.  This is not some new thing: the Greek text already has this consistency.

And this is not to say one cannot take the Greek words and study them further.  It is not to say that a Greek word does not have a larger meaning.  A consistent translation allows easier further study as it removes commentary from the starting point, and allows you to cut-straight the truth: "You-be-diligent yourself to-stand-along-side approved to-the God, (a) workman unashamed, cutting-straight the word of-the truth". 2 Timothy 2v15

 

We may not have it all, (now we see darkly 1 Cor.13:12), but we have enough (the Word of YHVH endures forever 1PE 1:25, Psalm 12:6-7, Matt 24:35).

 


Galatians ch 1

v1 Paul (an) apostle, not from MEN nor through (a) MAN BUT through Jesus Messiah and God, Father, the (one) having-raised him out-of dead (ones),

 

Paul starts by stating his commission is from Jesus/Yeshua Messiah and God,  Father, the one that raised Jesus out of the dead ones.  Although Paul had the traditional Jewish training - you might say he had a master's degree in Judaism, training "at the feet of Gamaliel" Acts.22:3 - he never-the-less lets us know his authority comes from God. 

 

You could read this: "through Jesus - the Messiah and God, Father". 

 

Gal.1v2 And all the brothers with me, to-the assemblies of-the Galatia:

more than one brother

from brothers traveling with Paul to the Messianic/Christian assembly of Galatians. -Alford's Greek New Testament agrees -

 

Jewish ethnic brothers or Jewish/Gentile brothers in the Body of Messiah? 

Paul's ministry was to the Gentiles, and vs22 says the Messianic assembly in Judah did not know what he looked like - they hadn't seen him.  Both senses are allowable, but it seems to me Paul is referring to brothers in Messiah.

 

Gal.1v3 Favor to-YOU and peace from God our Father and Jehovah Jesus Messiah,

Jehovah Jesus Messiah!  Many of the Epistles begin this way.  Unfortunately none of the popular translations or paraphrases show this IMPORTANT message of the Greek - that Jesus/Yeshua is YHVH.

 

 Jehovah Jesus Messiah is from the Greek text (the "Alexandrian" text type)

χάρις ὑμῖν καὶ εἰρήνη ἀπὸ θεοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν καὶ κυριου Ἰησου Χριστου

Kuriou Yasou Cristou = YHVH Yeshua Messiah.

note there is no article before kuriou, but rather kai καὶ;  "and".

 

"Whenever Kurios is used in the singular, without the article in the New Testament, it stands for Jehovah- except the vocative kurie, which is a word of address." (quote from R.H.Mount's book, "Jehovah"). This also appears to follow the Septuagint use of the article with kurios.

 

 

Once you understand that Yeshua is YHVH (and the significance takes awhile to sink in) then you can know/see how some things can be.  This is how we can have a New Covenant/Testament and an Old, and the Old can be "rendered-inactive" -

 

Eph. 2: v14 For he himself is our peace, the (one) having-made the both (places) one even having-broken-down the midst-wall of-the fencing-in, the enmity, in his flesh

v15 Having-rendered-inactive (καταργήσας katargasas)the law (νόμος nomos) of-the commandments(ἐντολῶν entolown) in decrees (δόγμασιν dogmasin) , in-order-that he-might-create the two in himself with-reference-to one new (quality) MAN making peace,"

 

This is how we can have access to YHVH the Father. This is how we can enter boldly into the Holy of Holies.

 Hebrews 10:19-20

v19 Having therefore brothers, boldness-of-speech with-reference-to the entering-in of-the holy-ones in the blood of-Jesus,

v20 Which (entering-in) he-dedicated for-us (a) way recently-slain and living, through the veil, this is his flesh,

 

 Because understanding that Jesus/Yeshua is Jehovah/YHVH greatly helps you understand that YHVH can do ANYTHING He wants to.

 

 

Gal.1v4 The (one) having-given himself in-behalf-of our sins, in-which-case he-might-rescue us out-of the age namely-the evil (one) having-stood-and-still-standing-in according-to the will of-the God and our Father,

This is the Good News!

 

Gal.1v5 To-whom (be) the glory with-reference-to the ages of-the ages: amen.

Some ways of looking at this:

1.Paul is referring to Yeshua/Jesus: and in this Paul equates Son with Father - the glory.

 2. Paul is referring to The Father, God; To-whom (be) the glory.  This though, also is a reference to Jesus as Paul, by the Holy Spirit, states YHVH Yeshuah Messiah.

3. The Glory represents the Shekinah.

 

Gal.1v6 I-am-marveling that thus quickly YOU-are-transferring from the (one) having-called YOU in Messiah's favor into (a) different good-news,

  "transferring" is from μετατθεσθε metatithesthe Strong's 3346

This word also occurs in Act 7:16, Hbr 7:12 (2x), Hbr 11:5 (2x), Jud 1:4

Jude 1:v4 For certain MEN crept-in-alongside, the (ones) having-been-written-before long-ago and-still-written with-reference-to this sentence, impious (ones), transferring the favor of our God into wantonness and denying the only Despot and our Lord Jesus Messiah.

 

"good-news" is from εuαγγελιον  1st use -

 The transliteration is euaggelion; the pronunciation is yü-än-ge-lee-on.

 

Paul is talking about the Gospel, the Good-News.  This word shows up un-translated later in this chapter in several versions. That usually doesn't happen by accident....it is commentary by omission at the least, but more likely lying.

 

"different" is from ἕτερον - heteron.

 

Gal.1v7 Which is not another; unless there-are some, the (ones) disturbing YOU and willing to-turn-differently the good-news of-the Messiah.

"another" is from ἄλλο  - allo.

 "good-news" from εὐαγγέλιον  euaggelion  yü-än-ge'-lē-on 2nd use

 

Often English translations will translate "allo" and "heteron" the same. 

I believe the New Testament Greek is inspired of Elohim/God. Therefore, there is a reason two different Greek words are used, and that is to show two separate meanings.

 

Here Paul says they are following a different good-news (Gospel) than the one he taught.  It is not another-the-same as he taught. 

 

"allo" then means "other" or "another" - the same

"Heteron" then means "other " or another" - different

 

This differentiation is often important.  For instance, "allo" and "heteron" come together to show that there were 5 crosses on Calvary.  But that's another, different study.

 

Gal.1v8 BUT even if we or (a) messenger out-of heaven might-be-bringing-good-news to-YOU beside what good-news-we-brought to-YOU, let-him-be anathema.

1st "good-news" from εὐαγγελίζηται euaggelidzata  -3rd use

2nd "good-news" from εὐηγγελισάμεθα euaggelisametha -4th use

I wish I knew Greek, in order to explain the differences in how and why as to sentence structure the words are spelled.

Gal.1v9 As we-have-said-before-and-still-say, even just-now again I-am-saying, if anyone is-bringing YOU good-news beside what YOU-took-along, let-him-be anathema.

"good-news" from εὐαγγελίζεται yü-än-ge-la'-tai  - 5th use

It is evident the subject of the Good-News is very important here.

Strong words against those bringing another/heteron/different good-news.

 

Alford's Greek Testament, Galatians, pp5; "The nature of the 'different Gospel,' as gathered from the data in our Epistle, was (1), though recognizing Jesus as the Christ, it insisted on circumcision and the observance of the Mosaic ordinances at to times, &c.: (2) it professed to rest on the authority of some of the other Apostles."

 

Gal.1v10 For just-now am-I-relying-on MEN or the GOD? Or am-I-seeking to-be-pleasing to-MEN? If I-was still pleasing MEN, I-were not (a) slave of-Messiah.

 

Paul, inspired of God, writes that he does not care what MEN (mankind) thinks about him. This is the 2nd time (vs1) in this chapter that he has said "I am correct in what I say". Paul isn't looking for direction from anyone; he's already got it from YHVH Yeshua.

 

Gal.1v11 For I-am-making-known to-YOU, brothers, the good-news namely-the good-news-having-been-brought by me that it-is not according-to MAN;

 

"brothers" from ἀδελφοί adelphoi

 

1st "good-news" from εὐαγγέλιον euaggelion yü-än-ge-lee-on   -6th use

2nd "good-news" from εαγγελισθν euaggelisthen, yü-än-ge-lees-then.  -7th use

 

* Paul is talking about the good news.  By "good-news" he is not talking about Talmud, although he knew the traditions.  By "good-news" he is not talking about "The Law", although he knew the law.  By the way, "law" is from - νομος nomos - that's a different-heteron Greek word than "traditions" is derived from.

In Gal. ch2&3 we find out who and what Paul, by the Holy Spirit, meant by "another-different good-news"

 

Paul states that his message is from God, not man.  Apparently the different-heteron Gospel being taught was from man. ?

 

Gal.1v12 For I myself took it along neither of MAN nor was-I-taught, BUT through (an) uncovering of-Jesus Messiah.

Paul - by the Holy Spirit - can't make this clearer: Paul is inspired of YHVH Yeshua. Yeshua/Jesus personally revealed the good-news to Paul.  It is noteworthy that although Paul was very well taught in Judaism, he says "nor was-I -taught" by man regarding the good-news.

Paul is referring to the account of Acts 22. Of particular note is vs.10 Jesus tells Paul to go to Damascus  "and-there it-will-be-spoken to-you concerning all-things which it-has-been-and-still-is-assigned for-you to-do." 

Note the future. 

Paul got the teaching/education at this time for everything he was to do

 

Note that Jesus appeared to Paul more than once: Acts 23:11: "But the succeeding night the Lord having-stood-by to-him said:  You-be-being-of-good-courage; for as you-emphatically-testified the-things concerning me with-reference-to Jerusalem, thus it-is-essential you also to-bear-witness into Rome."

 

Gal.1v13 For YOU-heard (of) my conduct at-one-time in the Judaism, that according-to (a) surpassing-manner I-was-pursuing the assembly of-the God and I-was-laying it waste,

 

Greek text: ἠκούσατε γὰρ τὴν ἐμὴν ἀναστροφήν ποτε ἐν τῷ Ἰουδαϊσμῷ ὅτι καθ’ ὑπερβολὴν ἐδίωκον τὴν ἐκκλησίαν τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ἐπόρθουν αὐτήν

"the Judaism" from Ἰουδαϊσμῷ - ioudaismo  yoo-dais-mos

"the assembly" from ἐκκλησίαν ekklēsia - ek-klay-see-a   -singular.

Greek only has a direct article "the" and no indirect article (a). The direct article is a pointer.  THE Judaism.  THE Assembly.

 

Paul distinguishes between the Judaism and the assembly of the God. 

 

A further distinction?, vs2 "the assemblies of the Galatians", and vs 22 "the assemblies in Messiah". In both cases  assemblies, plural.

 

There's a difference that a word study of "assembly" will explain.  In brief, there is the assembly called out of the nations - Israel. There is also the called out assembly from Israel (and by grace & grafting also from Gentiles) into the body of Messiah - the Christians/Messianics.  The latter represents the fruit?/result of the good news.

 

This is near to the mystery of the man/wife messiah/assembly - Eph 5:30-32, Gen.2:21-24. Therein is the answer to the question that has been asked, "What if a person is already there?"   i.e. "The veil is rent. How can this be so?"

With God, all things are possible.

Further study on this "stream" will, God permitting, explain these things.

Gal.1v14 And I-was-progressing in the Judaism above many equals-in-age in my race, existing more-excessively (a) zealot of-my paternal traditions.

 

"traditions" from παραδόσεων paradoseon   par-a-doe-say-own (?)

"Judaism" from Ἰουδαϊσμῷ - ioudaismo  yoo-dais-mos

"race" from γένει genei

 

Paul distinguishes between "the Judaism" and "my race".  You don't have to be an ethic Jew to be a Jew (Judaism) (can be a gentile proselyte), but if you are ethnically Jewish, you may also have zealous paternal traditions.

 

In vs 13 and 14 Paul delineates a difference between the assembly of the God and the Judaism of his family.  Paul tells us he was previously a Jew's Jew.  And as a traditional Jew, he persecuted the assembly of the God.  Paul says there were MANY in this same traditional Judaism. Paul wasn't the lone Jew in persecuting the Messianic/Christian Jews and Gentiles. So there is a huge difference between traditional Judaism and Believers in Jesus Christ (Yeshua Messiah) -whether or not Believers are labeled Messianic Judaism, Messianic Gentile or Christianity.

 

Traditional (orthodox now, I suppose) Judaism is an enemy (beloved) of the Good-News, and thus an enemy (beloved) of Messianic Jews/Gentiles and Christianity (if you make a distinction between Messianic and Christianity):

Romans 11:28a "On-the-one-hand enemies according-to the good-news because-of YOU,

BUT because of the patriarchs, they are beloved.  You will see this love from the Messianic community to the orthodox, in spite of the hate coming from the orthodox.  Hopefully this hatred will change.

Romans 11:28b "...on-the-other-hand cherished (ones) according-to the choice because-of the fathers;"

BUT keep in mind, traditional Judaism IS an enemy of the good-news. Romans 11:28a  Perhaps - watch your back.

Matt. 10:44 "Love your enemies" becomes a little clearer in this context.  Remember Jesus said - always He spoke to Jews - that he came not to send peace on earth, but "a man's enemies shall be of his own household" Matt. 10;34-36. Hence Jew against Jew, as Paul was previously.

Yahweh Yeshua/Jesus is the Cornerstone to those that believe, -

 i.e. the Good-News - but to those that do not, a stumbling stone, a Rock of offence. 1Peter2:8.

 

continuing in Galatians -

Gal.1v15 But when the God was-pleased namely-the (one) having-severed me out-of my mother's belly and having-called (me) through his favor

 

Gal.1v16 To-uncover his son in me, in-order-that I-might-be-bringing him, good-news among the Gentiles, immediately I-communicated-for-myself not with flesh and blood,

 

I've not seen any other translation present this accuracy: "... bringing him, good-news among the Gentiles..." i.e. - he (him=Yeshua) is the good-news.

 

Here's the Greek for this passage:

ἀποκαλύψαι τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ ἐν ἐμοὶ ἵνα εὐαγγελίζωμαι αὐτὸν ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν εὐθέως οὐ προσανεθέμην σαρκὶ καὶ αἵματι

ατν auton = "him"

εαγγελζωμαι euaggelizomai, yü-än-ge-lee'-zo mai  8th use 1 pers. pl. aor. mid

 

The JNT(Jewish New Testament) has:

v16 "to reveal his Son to me, so that I might announce him to the Gentiles, I did not consult anyone;"

The JNT paraphrases  euaggelizomai  good-news as "announce".

 

ASV1901 v16:" to reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the Gentiles; straightway I conferred not with flesh and blood:"

 

Of the dozen or so versions found online at Blueletterbible.com, only the Young Literal Translation (YLT) and The New Living Translation (NLT) correctly present Jesus as the Good News...although unfortunately the NLT does so by a stretch of paraphrase:

 

YLT v16: "to reveal His Son in me, that I might proclaim him good news among the nations, immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood,"

NLT v16: " to reveal his Son to me* so that I would proclaim the Good News about Jesus to the Gentiles. When this happened, I did not rush out to consult with any human being.

 

The Holy Spirit keeps saying "Good-news" in this chapter, and it seems strange to leave it out here.  Yeshua is the differentiating factor that makes it "good news".  This is what Paul was preaching.

 

I marvel that 2000 years later people in the assemblies still do not get this distinction: Jesus is the good-news.

 

continuing in Galations:

Gal.1v17 Neither went-I-up into Jerusalem to the apostles before me, BUT I-went-away into Arabia, and again I-returned into Damascus.

Paul had no need to consult with any "higher" authority, as YHVH had consulted with Paul. 

 

Paul went to Arabia.

 

Gal.1v18 Thereafter after three years I-went-up into Jerusalem to-relate (to) Cephas, and I-continued with him fifteen days;

 

After going to Damascus, then to Arabia, Paul returned to Damascus, preaching the Good-news of Jesus/Yeshua (not the Law, not Talmud). He specifically says he was bringing Jesus, the Good news, to the Gentiles during this time (vs16). 

 

"Good-news" - εὐαγγέλιον euaggelion - is a different word than "law" which comes from νόμος nomos.

 

I believe the Greek New Testament is the inspired Word of God, therefore, I MUST believe the euaggelion/Good News is different from the nomos -  Law.

 

 

Studying the Greek will reveal its inspiration, and the word of God is not lost, we have it in the Hebrew Old Testament and the Greek New Testament. 

 1Peter 1:25 "But the saying of-Jehovah is-remaining into the age. But this is the saying NAMELY-THE GOOD-NEWS-having-been-brought with-reference-to YOU"

 The good-news is the saying of YHVH that remains into the age.

"saying" is from ῥῆμα rema, NOT λόγος logos.  A lot of translations have "word" here and also for the Greek logos elsewhere such as John 1:1.  However, it is a different Greek word, thus a consistent translation yields a different English word. 

 

"good news" is from euaggelisthen

 

We don't HAVE an original Hebrew New Testament, thus we can deduce the Greek is inspired, because we HAVE the Greek. The good-news is the saying of YHVH that remains into the age. Remember, God created 70 languages at Babel....He DOES speak in other languages. 

 

After all that, Paul only spent 2 weeks with Peter. 

 

continuing in Galatians -

Gal.1v19 But (a) different (one) of-the apostles I-saw not, unless James the brother of-the Lord.

different - ἕτερον heteron

of-the Lord - τοῦ κυρίου tou kuriou - The definite article (the) with kuriou = "The Lord".

Is Paul saying James is different/heteron because he is Jesus' brother?

"brother" can denote a family member or an assembly member

 

Gal.1v20 But what-things I-am-writing to-YOU, behold in-sight of-the God that I-am not lying.

Paul is not lying.  Does this make us assume that some were saying he was lying?  Amazingly, even today some call Paul a liar.  I note some are still today hung up on a lot of what Paul wrote - and they would rather fall back on, or rather under the Law, and diminish Yehsua Yahweh's sacrifice. 

 

Thus you have the likes the Jewish New Testament, wherein author Stern craftily uses 13 words to "paraphrase out" the meaning of two Greek words.  This is detailed in the introduction of the JNT.

 

Gal.1v21 Thereafter I-went into the regions of-the Syria and of-the Cilicia.

 

Gal.v22 But I-was being-unknown by-the face to-the assemblies of-the Judea namely-the (assemblies) in Messiah.

"the assemblies" from ταῖς ἐκκλησίαις tais ekklasiais - plural

The Messianic community in Judah did not know who Paul was.

 

Gal.1v23 But they-were only hearing that the (one) pursuing us at-one-time now he-is-bringing-good-news-for-himself the trust which at-one-time he-was-laying-waste,

good-news -εὐαγγελίζω euaggelizō 9th use

 

Gal.1v24 And they-were-glorifying the God in me.

The Messianic community liked what they heard about Paul.

 


 

Galatians Chapter 1 Conclusions: 

 

Nine times Paul -by the Holy Spirit- spoke the word "good-news" (euaggelion).

 

This "good-news" he specifically defines as the Gospel of Jesus/Yeshua. v4 The (one) having-given himself in-behalf-of our sins

 

Paul defines Yeshua as YHVH. v3 Favor to-YOU and peace from God our Father and Jehovah Jesus Messiah, κυριου Ἰησου Χριστου

 

Paul marvels the fact the Galatians are "transferring" from YHVH to another/different/heteron good-news.

 

Twice Paul condemns those that bring such a different/another/heteron good-news.

 

Paul distinguishes between the traditional Judaism and the Assembly (ekklasia) of God.vs13

 

There is no indication in this chapter that Paul had anything but total confidence in his message of the Good News of Yeshua/Jesus.  vs.20 I am not lying.  Paul defines himself as a master of traditional Judaic thought, but yet states that he was not taught by man the good news that he teaches, but rather through a revelation "uncovering" by Messiah Yeshua/Jesus.

 

Once Jesus revealed the truth to Paul, he immediately began bringing (preaching) him, Jesus, the good news among the gentiles. v16 To-uncover his son in me, in-order-that I-might-be-bringing him, good-news among the Gentiles, immediately I-communicated-for-myself not with flesh and blood,

Paul brought the good news (euaggelizomai) to the Gentiles.

 

Jesus/Yeshua IS the good news.

 

Vs16-24 Everywhere he went, Paul brought the Good News (euaggelion) of Jesus to the Gentiles..

 He does not say he brings or brought the Law (nomos) to the Gentiles.

 

 

 The messianic Jewish assembly in Judah liked what they heard about Paul even as they did not personally know him.

 

I note that those bringing another-different good news in Galatians Ch. 1 are not necessarily (and so now, in our time, either) "anti" Messiah.

Q. Who at this time, 2012, is bringing another-different good news into the assembly? 

 

Gal. 1v14 -"traditions" from παραδσεων paradoseon   par-a-doe-say-own

STRONGS refers you to (3862) παραδοσις paradosis

1) giving up, giving over

a) the act of giving up

b) the surrender of cities

2) a giving over which is done by word of mouth or in writing, i.e. tradition by instruction, narrative, precept, etc.

a) objectively, that which is delivered, the substance of a teaching

b) of the body of precepts, esp. ritual, which in the opinion of the later Jews were orally delivered by Moses and orally transmitted in unbroken succession to subsequent generations, which precepts, both illustrating and expanding the written law, as they did were to be obeyed with equal reverence

 

So the Greek word παραδσεων paradoseon    for"traditions" Gal.1:14,  has definitions of giving over and the oral traditions (the body of precepts, esp. ritual, orally transmitted ).

 

(The New Analytical Greek Lexicon, w. Perschbacher, pp307);

paradoseon gen. pl. f. n.   - from paradozos (3861) -unexpected; strange, wonderful, astonishing??? but then from paradosis (3862) "delivery, handing over, transmission; in N.T. what is transmitted in the way of teaching, precept, doctrine, 1 Cor. 11:2; 2 Thess. 2:15; 3:6; tradition, traditionary law, handed down from age to age, Matt. 15:2, 3, 6

 

Note that  unexpected; strange, wonderful, astonishing, giving over, delivery, handing over and traditionary law are definitions of the same Greek word " παραδσεων paradoseon ".

 

 

Now compare Mark 14:18 παραδώσει, often incorrectly translated "betray":

 

Mark 14v18 And (as) they (were) lying-back and eating the Jesus said, Amen I-am-saying to-YOU, that one out-of YOU will-give me over, the (one) eating with me.

  "will-give" from παραδoσει paradosei  - but STRONGS sends you to (3860) παραδιδωμι paradidomi - to give into the hands (of another); to give over into (one's) power or use

MarK 14v21 On-the-one-hand the son of-the MAN is-with-drawing, according-as it-has-been-and-is-still-written concerning him; on-the-other-hand woe for-that MAN through whom the son of-the MAN is-being-given-over; it-was fine for-him if that MAN was not begotten.

"given-over" from παραδίδοται  paradidotia  - STRONGS again sends you to (3860) παραδίδωμι

Elsewhere, for παραδίδοται, (The New Analytical Greek Lexicon, w. Perschbacher, pp307) shows 3 pers. sg. pres. pass. indic. of (3860) παραδίδωμι ( give over, see above)

But shows also that

 (3860) παραδίδωμι  is from (3859 )παραδιατριβή  - STRONGS has constant contention, incessant wrangling; useless occupation, empty business
 
The root of the word commonly translated "betray" (Mark 14:18,21) for when Judas gave-over Jesus is the is closely related to the word for Paul's Jewish "traditions" Galatians 1:14.

has definitions of giving over and the oral traditions (the body of precepts, esp. ritual, orally transmitted ).

These words are not identical, but certainly immediately some similarities come to mind.

 

Just as Judas was "ok" to do what he had to do; give over Yeshua- Yeshua told him to do it quickly - so too the traditional (orthodox) Jews are "ok" to give-over the Messianic/Christian  (via redemption-back ἀπολύτρωσιν Hebrews 9:15,  in the blood of the lamb/Yeshua).

What Judas did: - "giving over, strange, transmission, , traditionary law, constant contention, incessant wrangling; useless occupation, empty business....

 

What Jesus said about what Judas did:.

Mark 14:21" ... ; it-was fine for-him if that MAN was not begotten."

Matt. 26:24 On-the-one-hand the son of-the MAN is withdrawing according-as it-has-been-and-is-still-written concerning him, on-the-other-hand to-that MAN through whom the son of-the MAN is-being-given-over; it-was fine for-him if that man was not born.

 

Judas' actions caused him much grief.  He would have been better off not to have been born.  He hung himself. That's some serious "woe".

 

BUT first he repented to the high priest according to Law, and there was no New Covenant as this was before Calvary and the shed blood, death, resurrection of Messiah Jesus, so Judas was still under the law.  Matt. 27:3-6

Judas will sit on one of 12 heavenly thrones and judge: Matt.19:23-28

Judas is still numbered with the 12 disciples:

 Acts 1:v16 " Men, brothers, it-was-essential the scripture to-be-fulfilled which the Spirit namely-the Holy said-before through (the) mouth of-David concerning Judas the (one) having-become leader-of-the-way to-the (ones) having-together-taken Jesus,

v17 Because he-was having-been-and-still-is-numbered-down among us and he-procured-by-destiny the lot of this ministry.

Consider that this word only occurs here in the N.T., which shows its significance.  Here, the Word speaks personally to and about Judas.   It is a loving touch.  Consider that our word for arithmetic comes from a root word αριθμος arithmos: The message - Judas, you are still counted, and you still count.

Likewise, with Traditional  - Judaism, the parallel to Judas revealed here, still counts, even as they "give-over" the assembly of God (just as Paul did before he saw the "uncovering of Jesus Messiah") Gal. 1:v12,13,16

Traditional -Judaism do we translate παραδσεων paradoseon   as "traditional"  or as, "giving-over or betraying"? Or perhaps as from Thayer lexicon - "to deliver one to be taught, moulded"?

 

 Traditional -Judaism, like Judas, is part of God's plan:

 

Romans 11 v9 And David is-saying:  Let their table become into (a) snare and into (a) hunting and into (an) entrapment and into (a) repayment for-them,

table - Traditional Judaism does not see Yeshua as their Passover at their seder.

v10 Let their eyes be-made-dark (so as) not to-be-looking, and you-bend-completely their back through every-(thing).

God has blinded them to seeing Yeshua Messiah Yahweh.

v11 I-am-saying therefore, (Have) they-slipped in-order-that they-might-fall? (No!) May-it not come-to-pass; BUT by-their offence the salvation to-the Gentiles, with-reference-to to-provoke them to-jealousy.

Traditional Judaism/Jews stumbles at the Rock. 1 Peter 2:8 That Rock is Messiah Yeshua.1 Cor. 10:4

v12 But if their offence (is) riches of-(a)-world and their inferiority (is) riches of-nations, in-how-much more their fulness.

They - traditional Judaism - will have more fullness.  I can't fully explain how, but that's what God says.

 

Romans 11 v25 For I-am not willing (for) YOU to-be-being-ignorant brothers, (of) this mystery, in-order that YOU-might not be prudent in yourselves, that petrifaction has-come-to-pass-and-still-is from part to-the Israeli, until of-which (time) the fulness of-the Gentiles might-come-in,

Again, it is God's plan, not ours.

v26 And thus all Israel will-be-saved, according-as it-has-been-and-still-is-written:  The (one) delivering will-be-present out-of Sion, he-will-turn-back impiety from Jacob.

Yeshua/Jesus is coming again, and he will set matters correct in the Traditional Jewish assembly.  They are still counted, they still count.

Romans 11

v1 I-am-saying therefore, (has) the God pushed-away-from-himself his people?  (No!)  May-it-not-come-to-pass; for I myself also am (an) Israelite, out-of seed of-Abraham, of-(the)-tribe of-Benjamin.

v2 The God (has) not pushed-away-from-himself his people whom he-came-to-know-before. Or are-YOU not knowing-absolutely what the scripture is-saying in (the history of) Elias, as he-is-interceding With-the God down-upon the Israeli?

v3 Lord, they-killed your prophets, they-demolished your altars, and-I myself-was-left-remaining alone and they-are-seeking my soul.

v4 BUT what is the divine-information saying to-him? I-have-left-behind to-myself seven-thousand men, they-who bent not knee to-the Baal.

v5 Thus therefore also in the now season (a) remnant has-come-to-pass-and-still-is of-favor according-to choice;

v6 But if by-favor, no-more out-of works, since the favor no-more is-becoming favor.

v7 What then? What Israel is-seeking-after, this it-attained not, but the choice attained; but the others were-petrified,

v8 Even-as it-has-been-and-is-still-written:  The God gave to-them (a) spirit of-compunction, eyes not to-be-looking and ears not to-be-hearing, till of-the today day.

God has a plan.

 

And related to this blinded tradition, we are about to see Paul go ballistic on Peter, for one, for bringing in another, different good news.  Chapter 1 has purposefully set this stage.

 

The interweaving of these things cannot but be of the hand of God.   Praise Yah!

 

John 14:26 But the advocate, the Spirit namely-the Holy, which the Father will-send in my name, that (one) will-teach YOU all-(things), and he-will-put YOU in-mind all-(things) which I-said to-YOU.
